When young people are going through difficult times in their life or struggling with changes or challenges, a regular meeting with a Pastoral Mentor can be the help they need.
A Pastoral Mentor is an independent non-judgmental adult who is there to listen to, and support, young people as they grow and work through difficult and confusing experiences, relationships, and emotions. Although not counselors, the gift of time to listen, reflect, and encourage change and growth can be a powerful factor in a young person overcoming struggles and growing in confidence.
We work closely with the school or college pastoral support department who are there should we have questions or need to discuss concerns so that the help we offer links into other support for the young person.
Our Pastoral Mentors are recruited, trained, and have a DBS check for working with young people in schools. If you have two hours a week to offer, you might be surprised at the difference you could make.
