Unrepeatable

“No one else can live the life you will live.”

Young people today face a bewildering overload of pressures, among them the decisions they will need to make about their future learning and career. The world of work is changing so fast; by the time these school and college students get there, some jobs will have disappeared, others we can’t currently imagine will be emerging.

We passionately believe that our God-given humanness means that each person is amazingly and wonderfully made and has a hope and a future. Therefore, before considering a career or vocation it is vital that we have a clearer understanding of ourselves first. Through a series of creative activities Unrepeatable gives students a way to discover more about themselves and in the process to understand better how this relates to their vocation and future. As they go round, students record what they discover on pre-printed cards and build up a unique portfolio of knowledge and wisdom about themselves that will help with personal statements and future career choices.

The most helpful thing I’ve learned is…

“What type of person I am and what I would prefer to do job-wise.”

“Having a clearer idea of what to do in the future.”

“That I don’t have to be like other people because I am myself, not someone else.”

“That I bring wonderful things to the world.”

How would you describe Unrepeatable to a friend?

“It’s good because it helps you see what you like doing and what you don’t and helps you learn things about yourself.”

“Allows you to think about yourself and what you would like to do in the future.”

“Putting on paper what you’re too afraid to say.”

“Really nice and encouraging making you feel better about yourself.”

Our friends at Bristol Schools Connection have a new resource out called: Easter in a Box – The Movie!

It’s for children in Years 4 - 6 and can work with current social distancing measures. It could be taken into school by a church volunteer/team if measures allow, or delivered to school by the church which could then ‘join in’ via video link perhaps to answer questions at the end.

Children imagine they are on a movie set watching the filming of ‘Easter – The Movie’. The movie is based on the biblical account of the last days of the life of Jesus. For each scene they:

➢ look at a cast list and handle the props
➢ hear and imagine the scene being filmed
➢ discuss the emotions they felt
➢ wonder and reflect on what they have learnt and can apply to
their own lives, whatever their worldview.

You can register for one of four training sessions hosted online by the BSC team. The session will introduce you to the resource and give opportunity to talk it through and ask questions. You can sign up here: bit.ly/3j6QHwu
