CYO had the privilege of being one of the partners of Stewardship’s 40acts campaign over Lent. The whole premise is to Do Lent Generously – flipping Lent on it’s head and taking up new habits of generosity and kindness.
I had the opportunity to write the reflection Act 26 #cheerful remembering the incredible generosity of a couple that support CYO. I took the chance to honestly reflect on my own thought processes when it comes to giving, which often pushes me into inaction – something I’m keen to change!
When the day came for CYO’s reflection (19th March) I checked CYO’s Stewardship Account to see if anything had happened – and I was blown away! There were messages of support and financial gifts dripping in throughout the day; other people doing 40acts who knew little of CYO and our work had read the reflection and been stirred to give. It’s the most beautiful thing, that one couple’s act of generosity (which you can read about in the reflection) challenged me to grow, and also sparked generosity from others. So why not give it a go? Listen to those promptings to give – and if you feel stirred to give to us, you give generously here
In total CYO received £244.50 from others who were challenging themselves to grow in generosity. God is good! Those funds will help us to deliver our next round of training for chaplaincy teams that are delivering mentoring.
